as i've been feeling pretty crap all week i am in need of some comfort food. and instead of sushi (which i had last night) i am desiring Thai food. so, i called my dinner partner in crime to discuss her availability for such a dinner plan. to my great fortune she was available and i am waiting for her now to wisk me away to a Thai place for yummy comfort food.
while discussing our options we discussed 3 or 4 choices. the great thing about being in SF is that there are what feels like an infinite number of Thai restaurant choices. after much debate, listing of pros and cons including 'parking nightmare status' we settled on a 'known good' restaurant. a known good restaurant is one that we've been to numerous times and know that the food will be good and meet our usual (high?) standards. we have a few of these favorite haunts, some we haunt at least once a week.
but there's something comforting in a 'known good'. There is much in life that we take for granted as a 'known good'. Friends, they are a known good. Ben & Jerry's ice cream - known good. Clive Owen movies - even if they are crap - definitely a known good.
there are known goods all over the place - unfortunately my wireless internet connection on my personal laptop - not a known good.
ARGH!
addendum - i couldn't come up with any crap Clive Owen movies... so, i guess he's a known good regardless.
