which is worse...

i am currently looking for a new home in SAN FRANCISCO!!! And let me tell you... not fun. oh it interesting to compare what's out there and what people consider the value for property. i've seen about... 13 places. all in the same price range. the first i saw was a "garden apt" - the only 'garden' outside this apt was a lichen or moss apartment. i've seen a few dark caves or 'monster in the basement' apartments. and i've seen a few sunshine and bright places too.
but i have to tell you - the debate still rages - which is worse... apartment hunting, job hunting or dating. jobs interviews and dating usually require dressing up - but job interviews definitely require heels and possibly pantyhose... so interviews are automatically worse. but dating - your ego might be on the line but you only possible lose an evening... not your living space.

well which ever is worse - for as much as i'm enjoying viewing various apartments - i just want to find a place and move in. :)

thanks Cat for being my chaufeur.

you deserve better

this was my mantra given to me by my friend Amy. She would always tell me this. This didn't mean that i deserved better shoes, or clothes or service in a restaurant - but that i deserved better than i was treating myself. i won't get into the details of my college life... but this mantra, as i call it - i don't think Amy would call it that, has been quite top of mind for me lately.
Amy gave me a lighter (zippo) that has been engraved with this phrase. i have always kept it close and though i don't smoke (anymore, hence the gift was appropriate at the time) i value this lighter with great sentiment.
with all that life brings i think we need to remember this - i know i do.

thank you Amy for sharing your wisdom with me. i hope others learn from it as i have!

you, too, deserve better!

by the way...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Nostalgia

there are just some things that remind me of college. Sex on the beach shooters, key card access to buildings, election years, any movies filmed in DC (esp True Lies) and purity tests. I remember getting those 100 question purity tests. did anyone ever tell the truth? i thought they were interesting. not so much for the answers but for the questions - where do people come up with these things? well - i know the answer to that now - but then.. i had no idea!
So this evening I completed the Dante Inferno Test... which level of heck would i find myself in...
as it happens yours truly would be in limbo. not bad eh? for those of you who have known me forever - stop snickering!!! i can hear you. that's not my guilty conscience speaking - i have also known you FOR-EV-ER!

so for those of you also feeling nostalgic - here's the link of the Dante's Inferno Test that i took...

http://www.4degreez.com/misc/dante-inferno-test.mv

i apparently don't spend enough time online - there is an entire entry in wikipedia about purity tests... which became popular during the 80's. Who knew?

here's that link for some fascinating reading...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purity_test

And here's the link for a 500 question purity test... for those of you who are feeling particular ambitious or perhaps even bored.

And admittedly you can't mention purity tests without also mentioning nerd tests, hacker tests, and every other specialty "purity" test out there... oh the fun they used to be... well i'm hoping to 'keep it alive' and that everyone here goes out - checks out a purity test and has a bit of a nostalgic moment about college or that one time in life when you just enjoyed life.
