off to see the wonderful wizard of Oz...

well, i'm off to the hospital... so i'll not be on email or blog for a few days. which is probably good given i'm not sure what i'd post on my pain meds.

though it may prove interesting for others, i have NO doubt i'd write something embarrassing or completely nonsensical. although, who knows, it could be the greatest writing i ever do!

ta-ta. i'll post again when i get home.

longest...

i thought this week was going to be the longest week on record... until i got to today - and today is by far the longest day EVER!!!

will...
it...
ever...
END?!?!

i feel as if i'm perpetually singing the song that never ends.
so, let's analyze possible reasons for this never-ending day and week.

1. i know i'm not stuck in "groundhog day" as the day isn't repeating.

2. perhaps i'm trapped in a microscopic black hole that is sucking time from my day and making it stretch out and feel as if time isn't passing?

3. someone is playing with the slow advance or pause buttons on the remote control of my life?

4. i'm procrastinating and i know i have work that needs to be done? Nah.

more theories to come...

trapped at the airport

well i write this from the phoenix airport. oh the joy. oh the rapture. i am returning home and i am delayed in the airport.
as the Original OG - i am excited to tell how i am able to connect to the FREE wireless internet at the airport and i am also able to conveniently able to re-charge my iPod and cell phone. the latter of which is important to arranging pick-up at the airport.

so given this info - the Original OG should probably say that she's been given the opportunity from SouthWest to hang out in the airport as a rest stop between flights. I have also had the chance to have cheesy fries but most importantly a Bass beer. Yum. A mid-travel brew to ... uh... settle the stomach? Sure. That's the ticket.

oh for those burning to know how my ears have been doing with the flying... i flew Thursday and I was quite surprised that they did well and have since completely cleared. I am quite excited. :) woo.

Now is the chance for me to do some appropriate research.

upset? you don't want to see me very upset!

why must people push my buttons so early in the morning? Yes, i'm posting while i'm working, but one of my biggest pet peeves is when someone cc's the free world to an email that has NOTHING to do with the free world and is just about 2 people!

upset? Kitridge, you haven't seen me upset.

or is the hulk a better analogy. either way - a dear friend in "mecca" has already had to talk me down...

is it Friday yet??

or...

is it beer time, yet?

the known good

as i've been feeling pretty crap all week i am in need of some comfort food. and instead of sushi (which i had last night) i am desiring Thai food. so, i called my dinner partner in crime to discuss her availability for such a dinner plan. to my great fortune she was available and i am waiting for her now to wisk me away to a Thai place for yummy comfort food.
while discussing our options we discussed 3 or 4 choices. the great thing about being in SF is that there are what feels like an infinite number of Thai restaurant choices. after much debate, listing of pros and cons including 'parking nightmare status' we settled on a 'known good' restaurant. a known good restaurant is one that we've been to numerous times and know that the food will be good and meet our usual (high?) standards. we have a few of these favorite haunts, some we haunt at least once a week.
but there's something comforting in a 'known good'. There is much in life that we take for granted as a 'known good'. Friends, they are a known good. Ben & Jerry's ice cream - known good. Clive Owen movies - even if they are crap - definitely a known good.
there are known goods all over the place - unfortunately my wireless internet connection on my personal laptop - not a known good.
ARGH!
addendum - i couldn't come up with any crap Clive Owen movies... so, i guess he's a known good regardless.

optimist girl's health... the saga continues

so i thought with my urgent visit to the doctor on friday afternoon that i'd be done with the whole doctor thing for the weekend. (i was diagnosed with an eye infection and given some drops - which i used in both eyes, must always be careful) and when the eye infection got worse saturday and amazingly better sunday morning i thought i'd be in the clear...
but oh no...
at 4pm on a sunday afternoon my ear starts to act up!
an ear infection! i've had enough of these in my life that i know when i've got one. by 6pm i'm in agony. by 7pm i'm sitting in the emergency waiting room hoping to be seen soon. by 830pm i've got my prescription and i'm heading to the 24 hr pharmacy.
of course the kicker is that i've got eye drops, ear drops, and antibiotics. and a note saying i'm not to fly for 5-days. yup. i'm supposed to head to LA tomorrow morning. no plane for me.
i can barely handle the ringing in my ear and pain that i'm not about to get on a plane! dedicated to my job yes. even more dedicated to my hearing and my health... you betcha!
so... i've seen more doctors in the last 72 hours than i would care to admit. i'm not a big fan of drugs (most kinds), but apparently they are in my future...

i'm not old yet. apparently though, i'm in need of some serious rest!

the wedding. the photos. the glory.

so the first of the photos are being shared with the paparazzi of my sister's wedding. before you know it the photos will be all over the web and on the cover of people or us weekly.
perhaps not. but the number of cameras at the event would get you thinking the paparazzi would be offering cash for the photos.
the first photo here is of me, my sis, and our mom. all dressed up! we all clean up pretty well.

fabulous if i do say so myself.

so the wedding itself was at the presidential quarters in savannah, ga located in the historic district. it was definitely a cute place.
my mom and i stayed at the marshall house. very cute! loved it. unfortunately, they had the world's softest beds and my back is still recovering.
so the wedding day was pretty low key. they lowest key 'day of wedding' i've ever experienced in my infinite wedding day experiences.
more to come on that... but i wanted to get a few photos out there... so here's one of my sister and her (pause) husband.

aww....

so precious!

i'm sick. i'm dieing.

i'm pretty convinced that "illness while working" should become an iron-woman (or man) event. i'm sitting here with a cold, possibly the flu, a sore eye and yet i continue to work.
masochist? perhaps. definitely.
if i were a horse they would have either taken me out to pasture or possibly turned me into glue.

so with that. i'm going to take a nap.

mmm... nap.
